STEPHEN HOUGH PERFORMS RACHMANINOFF

Most pianists regard and even fear Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 as the most difficult in the repertoire, but Stephen Hough—who Music Director Thierry Fischer praises as “the perfect soloist”—is sure to take on the challenge with grace. Familiar music from Wagner’s Ring cycle is full of stirring, operatic drama and Unsuk Chin’s Chóros Chordón is a magical work evoking the cosmos.

PROGRAM:

UNSUK CHIN: Chóros Chordón
WAGNER (arr. Philippe Jordan): “Prelude, Interludes & Entry of the Gods into Valhalla” from Das Rheingold
RACHMANINOFF: Piano Concerto No. 3

General Age Guideline: Individuals ages five and older are welcome at this performance. Parents should ensure their children are able to sit quietly through the performance without disturbing others around them. No babes in arms will be admitted.
