PROKOFIEV’S PIANO CONCERTO NO. 2
Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 is a virtuosic dazzler of bold strokes and robust colors, and pianist Behzod Abduraimov is known to perform it with “infectious brilliance.” David Robertson—who has built an undeniable rapport with the Utah Symphony’s musicians—also leads the witty Shostakovich Symphony No. 1, perhaps the greatest graduation project of all time, and The Chairman Dances, an “outtake” from Adams’ opera Nixon in China that also appeared on the soundtrack for the video game Civilization IV.
