TITO MUÑOZ CONDUCTS BEETHOVEN 6, SIBELIUS & BUXTEDHUDE
Mexican renaissance man Carlos Chávez arranged the Chaconne of 17th-century organist Dietrich Buxtehude for his Orquesta sinfónica de México in 1937. Renowned violinist Augustin Hadelich returns to Utah to present a heartfelt work by a composer who always wished he had been a virtuoso performer himself. Beethoven described the 6th Symphony as “more an expression of feeling than painting” but, thanks to Fantasia, vivid images come to mind regardless.
